Gender Reveal Cupcakes!

There is a new trend happening when it comes to revealing which gender is hiding in your baby belly....the gender reveal!

Some people have parties where the expecting couple reveals the gender and some use CUPCAKES!!

Here is what happens:
Step one: someone becomes pregnant (hehehe)
Step two: the pregnant lady goes for an ultrasound where the gender is discovered.
Step three: that lady tells ME the gender and I'm the ONLY ONE who knows it. (How exciting is that?!?)
Step four: I bake some yummy cupcakes and fill the middle of them with either pink or blue icing.
Step five: The expectant couple shares the cupcakes with friends and family and when they take a bite they find out the gender of the baby!

I think it's pretty exciting! Without further ado:
These are Vanilla Pudding cupcakes with a butter cream frosting, topped with some cute mini baby feet and onsie cookies!

 Congratulations! It's a boy!

 Happy Easter!

Cookies are a Colorful Process!

Sometimes when I talk about making cookies people don't understand what a lengthy process sugar cookie decorating really is!  It goes way beyond the baking stage.  Here is a little breakdown of an average cookie session for one set of cookies (20-30 cookies):

Baking: 1-2 hours
Mixing Icing: 1- 1 1/2 hours
Decorating cookies: 3-5 hours depending on detail
Cookies dry for at least 24 hours and many times a second layer needs to be added, which takes more time.
Wrapping cookies: 2+ hours
Clean up: too long!

When I make over a hundred cookies at once, it is quite a process!  I'm not complaining at all, I like doing it but it does take a lot of time!

Here are some before and after pictures of this past weekend:
Here they are all set up and ready for decorating.  The sticky notes were to help me remember what each person wanted and personalization items, things like that! When I have this many cookies my poor family can't eat at the dining room table : (

These bottles make it all happen! I ordered these from Karen's cookies (great site!) and use Wilton tips and Americolor gels for coloring the icing!

Here is the after! Lots of color, lots of icing everywhere.  These still needed some details but were pretty much done!

Heroes in a Half Shell - Turtle Power!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have made a comeback recently.  This is fun for me since I remember my brother loving them as a child and now our kids are watching them!

These heroes in a half shell are super cool and really cute!

I have to admit that the thought of making these was nerve wracking but I think they are really cute! The old school cartoon version too!

These are actually make with an engagement ring cookie cutter that I turned sideways.  The flowing mask is on the diamond part! Sometimes you have to be creative with your cutters!

All wrapped up and ready to party! These guys will make some 5 year old boys VERY HAPPY!
 Cowabunga!

Wedding dresses are BACK!

When I made these dresses a few months ago, everyone went crazy for them! Here they are again with a slight variation - green sparkly sashes!

These cookies are beautiful and big - a great shower favor!

These gorgeous dresses are tasty too!

Even though I use the same cookie cutter for all the dresses they are each unique and slightly different, which I think is kind of nice !

A close up shot of the sparkly sash and flower with an edible pearl in the center.

Lots of dresses!

Wrapped up with a green raffia ribbon for a more natural texture.

Happy Wedding Shower to the Bride to Be!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I'm not Irish but isn't everyone Irish on St. Patrick's Day?  These rainbow cupcakes are bright, fun, and tasty!

Dreaming of Summer!

Even though the first day of spring is next week it's still cold and snowing here! These cookies are making me with for summer! Wouldn't they be cute at a summer party!

I don't know if eating these cookies will help you get into a bikini though - maybe if you eat them while running!

After posting some dog paw pictures they are back by popular demand!
